Project Background
Guangba Highway, with total length is about 148.8km, is adopting the technical standards for expressways in mountainous and hilly areas, it is a fully enclosed four-lane expressway with a fully interchanged concrete asphalt pavement. The design driving speed is 80km/h, and the road bed width is 24.5m. The bridge-to-tunnel ratio exceeds 40%.
The Project
This project contains improvement and reinstatement objects, as well as includes the installation of rockfall mitigation project, stabilization project, anchors and anchor piers construction. It also involves specific issues such as fence setting, road blockage, traffic protection, hazard clearance, and slope stabilization.
The Challenge
The target slope is steep and rich in shallow rock stratum, which requires much longer anchor drilling (12m on average) and anchor piers construction to guarantee the anchor rod be firmly nailed in to slope.
The Solution
Draped steel nets are installed to cover the entire slope. Extra-deep anchors help the system wrap the slope more firmly to achieve stabilization. Finally, a rockfall mitigation system is erected at the toe of mountain, so that even if there is a rock that slips throughout the net, the danger can be eliminated under multi defense. After nearly two months of hard work, 450m2 of rockfall mitigation system, 2,337 m2 of draped net, 1,260 m of long anchor rods and 105 anchor piers were finally installed.
