Project Background

Guanyin Rock Tunnel is a vital passage of G351national road connecting Lushan and Xiaojin. Next to the Donghe river, the tunnel is build at the foot of a 50m high cliff.

The Project
Due to the rainy season and frequent crustal movement, a portion of the mountain in Guanyin Rock, Ya'an, collapsed and blocked the tunnel. SLP send an emergency team to the site 20 hours after the landslide with two missions. At one side, clear the collapsed rocks in order to recover the traffic asap, and at the other side, protect the tunnel and road from the unstable rocks above.

The Challenge
Approximate 8,600m3 total amount of landslide obstructs the emergency team entering the target site, the loose rocks and clasts on the slope with nearly 80° inclination angle are also the biggest threat to the install construction of slope stabilization system.

The Solution
SLP adapts retention system on this project due to the complex geological condition and urgency of traffic resumption. Within 10 days’ construction time, SLP clears the rockfall to reopen the tunnel and builds up a 1300m2 slope retention system on the slope above the tunnel.
